Shiran Zaray-Mizrahi is a contemporary painter and illustrator based in Beit Shemesh, Israel. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she creates emotive depictions of figures within luminous, textured landscapes that explore the relationship between humanity, nature, and spiritual presence.

Classically trained and informed by both modernist and figurative traditions, Shiran’s work centers on the meeting point between the inner and outer world. Her paintings draw from a childhood in South Africa, her Jewish heritage, and the landscape that surrounds her home, weaving together themes of belonging, memory, and quiet longing. Figures often emerge from or dissolve into the land, suggesting moments of transition — between exile and home, presence and memory, earth and spirit.

Light plays a central role in her practice, acting as both a visual language and a contemplative force. Through layered brushwork and subtle abstraction, Shiran approaches the landscape as a sacred threshold where the physical and the transcendent intersect. Her recent work turns toward light, growth, and connection, while acknowledging the uncertainty and tension that shape both personal and collective experience.

Ultimately, her paintings invite the viewer to pause and encounter moments of stillness — spaces where meaning is felt rather than explained, and where the landscape becomes a vessel for reflection and belonging.
