To Serve and Protect

This painting is almost a literal interpretation to me of the meaning of hishtadlut (making effort) on a national level. We fight our wars on many fronts, beyond the physical. What better way to express the interplay of spirit and form than a soldier engaged in spiritual reinforcement?
